Answering Your Commonly Asked Questions
As you begin considering filing a claim for your injuries, you will likely have questions, especially if you do not have much experience with the law. At The Sammarco Law Firm, LLC, we strive to give you the information you need to build a strong foundation for workers’ compensation and personal injury claims.
Below are some commonly asked questions. The corresponding answers are generic and not meant to be about your case specifically. For detailed and personal answers, please feel free to call 513-828-0243 or to reach out online.
How does the attorney get paid?
Unlike some other areas of law, reputable injury attorneys rarely ask for money upfront. At The Sammarco Law Firm, LLC, we get paid as a part of your settlement, meaning that you do not get bills sent to your home and we do not ask for you to pay us directly. The only time we see any money is if you get a successful settlement.
Can my employer fire me?
No. Ohio has strict laws that protect injured workers while they file claims. If you believe that your employer has fired you or refused to give you a promotion because of your claim, that is retaliation. Retaliation is strictly prohibited and may be grounds for a different employment law claim.
Can I choose my own doctor?
Yes. You do not need approval from your employer to see a doctor of your choice. If your doctor is a certified medical provider and registered with the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation, you should feel free to schedule any appointment you need.
